The Hampstead Heath Field Trip was lead by Diane Smith, who will be leading another trip around Guildford in July.

Group by the first pond The group by the first pond.
The oldest trees on the heath These two old trees appear, all alone on the skyline, in a drawing of sand digging on Sandy Heath in 1867. The remaining woods have grown around them since the quarries ceased to be worked in the 1970s.
Sphagnum moss This area of the heath contains the only Sphagnum Moss to grow anywhere in London. It is kept fenced off for its protection.
